April Weather:
- Average High: 60°F (16°C) - Average Low: 45°F (7°C)
April can be rainy, but the warmer temperatures make it more comfortable than March

What to Wear:

  • Pack an umbrella -- you'll be happy to have it when it starts to rain. Don't fret if you forget one though, because as soon as it starts to rain you'll find you can buy one on every street corner for $5 or so.
  • A waterproof jacket or trench coat is recommended -- while umbrellas are helpful, nothing compares with a good raincoat. In a pinch you can pick up a poncho at any NYC drug store (i.e. CVS, Duane Reade, Rite Aid) and while you're unlikely to win any fashion contests wearing one, you can toss it when the rain is done and it will keep your backpack or purse covered as well. A few years ago I discovered the virtues of a rain hat -- I love how it keeps my head dry without the hassle of an umbrella.

April Perks:

  • Warmer weather means outdoor activities are more inviting. You can visit some of New York City's great parks, take a walking tour or just enjoy strolling Fifth Avenue.
  • Central Park's growing greenery is great to visit in April.
  • The Easter Parade is a great chance to have an "only in New York" experience.

There are many fun events throughout the month, and the promise of warm weather, as well as April school break, make it a popular time to visit.
